I thought I would start off telling you a little bit about my life as a journalism student. As a convergence journalism student at the University of Missouri, I have a lot going on lately. I am in my senior capstone class, where you put all the skills you have ever learned in journalism and summarize/put them in use. My project, along with Drew Dumas and Amanda Heisey is mobile journalism. I have included a description of my project below.
I'm really excited to work with Vericorder Technology and put to use their mobile journalism tools. What I hope to get out of the project. Well.. I want to be a guinea pig and figure out the best practices for the device, but I really want to teach the device's nuances to other journalism students, make guides, and see if this is a plausible tool for journalism students throughout Mizzou. We will be working with Will Sullivan, a RJI fellow, and the interactive director of http://www.stltoday.com/.I am also working at Newsy.com as an Online Audience Developer. We use word of mouth advertising to promote the videos that the start-up creates. It will be a valuable experience and something that will hopefully shine on my resume, come May when I am looking for a job.
I went to speak with my academic advisor the other day and I found out that I can graduate in December if I want, but I decided to stick around. There are a lot of other valuable classes I can take second semester to help round our my skills and talents.
Since it has been a long time since I have posted anything, I would like to restate my mission statement for Images Repeating.
- Post random architecture, art, music news, movie clips, photos, etc.. that interest me
- Tell you about my life, good or bad
- Share stories my friends have told me
- Basically... the random musings of me, Jennifer Elston
