A moment of silence

Nine years ago today a terrible tragedy occurred affecting all Americans. It shook me up nine years ago and I still don't like to think about it. I will never forget riding around, my mom, my dad and I, driving all over town looking for a special edition newspaper so my mom could read more about it. I was convinced I was in danger and it forever changed some of my views on safety.

Here is my twitter post on where I was when I found out.

Where were you?

PUMPKIN

Guess what time it is? PUMPKIN time! O, I love pumpkins - whether it is pumpkin pie, pumpkin scones (see below), or carving pumpkins - I love it all. Here is my ode to pumpkins.

O the goodness. Pumpkins are not only delicious, but remind me of fall. It is, of course, the best season. The amazing leaves. The crisp air and the crisp smells. Mmmmm.

Stay tuned for images of my soon (well, relatively in October)-to-be-carved pumpkin in the coming weeks.

The Town

Welcome to The Town, Ben Affleck's directorial debut. It could be great. It could be something cliche, or perhaps something similar to Gigli. Take a peak and let me know what you think. (Didn't mean to rhyme). Do you think this film will define his career? Will it top Good Will Hunting?

The man. The myth. The legend.

Quentin Tarantino. Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill Volume 1. Kill Bill Volume 2. Inglorious Basterds. Can the man do no wrong?

Tarantino with his muse, Uma Thurman

I know a lot of people are not fans of his, or think that he is overrated, but I just love his work. I did not fully appreciate it until I took a film class covering 1950 film to the present. A lot of his work is pastiche, or imitation of other, earlier works. Almost every scene in his movie was inspired or nearly "stolen" from another movie. But, isn't copying the sincerest form of flattery?

Here is a clip from Reservoir Dogs, which is probably my favorite of his films. (Warning: a little crudeness will ensue.)

Ooo, and you can find him acting in this scene as well. Enjoy!
